COMPUTER CLASSIFICATION
1. Based on the type of data processed:
a. Analog computers (analog computer)
Used for data that are continuous and not the data in the form of numbers, but in physical form, such as electrical current, temperature, velocity, pressure and so forth. Output of analog computers generally are for setting or controlling a machine. For example, an analog computer is used to adjust the valve to control the flow of fluid that flows through a pipe, or used to adjust the temperature inside a burning tool. Analog computers are widely used in process control at chemical plants, penmbangkit electric power, oil refining, and in the hospital to regulate the heartbeat and so forth.

b. Digital computer (Digital Computer)
Received data in a digital computer in the form of numbers or letters. Computers of this type typically used in business applications and application techniques
The advantages of digital computers are as follows:
1. Process data more precise than the analog computer
2. Can store data as long as required by the process.
3. Can perform logic operations that compare two values and determines the outcome, ie comparing one element of value that is less than or equal to or greater than or equal to greater, or not equal to the value of the second element.
4. Data that is input can be corrected or deleted
5. The output of the digital computer can consist of numbers, letters, graphics or pictures.
c. Hybrid Computer

2. Based on Field Problems (Purpose)
a. Special Purpose Computers
This computer is designed to solve only one specific problem that is usually only a single problem. b. General Purpose Computers

3. Capability Based Computer
a. Small Computer Scalle
